Yesterday, the first reports of Dell's Chinese handset came into light. Though it was just speculation, although from a credible source. A day later, we have more information about the handset.
Apparently, the device will be called the Mini 3i and will run the same, "customized for China" Android OS used by the Lenovo Ophone. This latest development was revealed by a Chinese news portal. The report however added that the phone is expected only later this month and not "immediately" as reported earlier. It adds that China's largest mobile operator, China Mobile will be distributing the device under the Ophone brand. The Ophone brand will consist of different handsets, running the same operating systems. Currently, Lenovo and Dell have handsets running the Ophone OS in China. Another company Dopod will join the fray soon. The devices are all 3G ready - but will work on the Chinese, TD-SCDMA standard.
More on this as soon as the news is out! Oh, and lest we forget, the phone might be announced during the "middle" of the month. We're approaching the middle part in a few days! Therefore, it might just be a week or so away!
